Any faculty, staff, or administrator volunteer must have at least a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent (TAMU policy states that eight years of work experience is an equivalent to a baccalaureate degree) to serve as an ATMentor. When you volunteer to be a Mentor you agree to:
Provide one or more extra office hours each week for students who “just want to talk with someone”
Be a good listener and effective helper and to work with all students in a professional and caring way
Advise students in your area of experience and competence
Be informed about current Texas A&M services and refer students to these services as needed
Participate when possible in meetings designed to improve Mentors’ abilities to help
Inform students about the ATMentors program and the availability of individual Mentors
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please click the New Mentor Application link to the left. If you have questions, please feel free to call our office at (979) 845-6900.
